At Accolade we pride ourselves on having a fun, professional and approachable fitness team. We offer a personal fitness experience with the main body of our programmes concentrating on posture and educating our members about their bodies.

 

When joining Accolade we treat each new member as an individual therefore we ensure that each person has a full postural assessment on their first visit.  This is so we can base your programme around your body and concentrate on certain exercises that will benefit you and help to reset any imbalances in the body.  This is also the point when you start to learn a little more about your own body and how to help yourself to stay pain free and functional for longer.

 

Over the first month of your membership we aim to have four one to one sessions, the first two being split to cover your postural assessment, stretching programme, weights programme and cardiovascular programme, with the second two sessions being progress checks giving you the opportunity to voice any changes you wish to make to your programme or to get any one to one assistance on any techniques you may have forgotten.  All postural analysis will take place in our specially designed assessment room. 

 

The term ‘core stability’ refers to the muscles surrounding the middle of your body (core) and how well they are working (stabilising).  These muscles are used to stabilise the spine and pelvis helping to prevent injury.
 
Functional training exercises are movement patterns that replicate your daily life.  Therefore any gym exercise could be classified as functional if it relates to your daily life, job or hobby.

 

During your programmes you will be given exercises to help improve your core stability and work on any specific movement patterns that might be needed for your hobbies or work.

 

All instructors are fully qualified level 2 or level 3 and all have a good knowledge of postural assessment and correction, sports specific training and diet and nutrition.

 

The gym is airy and spacious with plenty of natural light.  It has an extensive range of equipment and it is split into four core areas:

  • Cardio
  • Resistance machines
  • Stretch area
  • Large free weights area

 

We aim to create a non intimidating environment where anyone new to fitness will feel comfortable training.  In addition, for anyone who trains on a regular basis they will find that our range of equipment will easily support their demanding training programme.
